Christoph Roedig and Uli Schop live in a duplex in the 10-unit co-op building they designed in Berlin’s Mitte neighborhood. The plot the building stands on, which was nearly empty until the middle of the last decade, cost about $360,000. Construction was completed in 2005 and cost an additional $1.1 million.

The lime-green kitchen is an island in the center of the apartment. The steel stairs bolted to the concrete wall appear suspended in mid-air.

The dining area faces the open kitchen. The dining room table was custom built. The white plastic, stacking chairs from Bontempi Casa Spider were purchased for about $575 from Die Rosen Kugel, a Berlin garden and furniture store.
